How to get rid of ants in the house? tried baby powder but av an alternative route?

Baby powder is no use, nor is salt. A solution of borax (boracic acid) and sugar is what you want. You can buy it as Nippon (in the UK) or there are several other names for the same thing. You can either get a powder or a liquid. It is fatal to ants, harmless to children and pets. Ask at your local hardware store, chemist/druggist or supermarket.

They take it and carry it back to the nest. It will take a day or so before the nest is killed. How to get rid of ants in the house? tried baby powder but av an alternative route?

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water. I found the information at http://www.pests.in useful.
The best way is to keep the house clean of food crumbs on cournters, floor, etc. Seal all open containers. Wash off all plates and utensils on the counter.
Try checking around where the ants are coming from. Many times a leaky pipe will provide a support system for ants to drink from.

It is important to see if the area is wet or damp and if it is wet, correct the problem or call a plumber. Look especially where pipes join if you have baseboard heating system. You may have a busted or broken connection. The sink area may provide an answer. Look under the sink for any dampness/leaks.

It really sounds like there may be some water being emitted from a source that's drawing them.
Terro ant bait...looks like honey, place it on cardboard near the ants trail and soon they are gone.......
