depends how long it expired, like a day or two its still good. What happens if I use expired powder baby formula?
Baby could have some tummy issues and get sick. Call WIC.What happens if I use expired powder baby formula?
You should not risk using the powder if it is way out of date....a month or so ok, but more than that throw it out.....do not know if the vitamin and nutritional stability is potent enough to give the baby nutrients needed for proper growth.
I will call you a BAD mommy!!
nothing....its to scare you more than anything
using expired baby formular usually makes people get off their but, go down to the quickie mart and buy some more!
I would not advise you that you use it. It may have some unseen mold growing in it that could cause the baby to get very, very sick. I recieved an article on people eating pancakes made from old pancake mixes and they got very, very sick. Some have even died from eating expired pancake mix. Don't take that risk. Throw it out and buy your baby some new formula.
Also seriously consider the answers given by Decoy Duck and momsapplepie.
don't do that to your baby.
Some dates on items are meant for the store to have to sell it by that date, some mean to use it by that date. find out wich it is. Since it is a baby, I wouldn't use it. I am the Queen of consuming past date items for myself but not others and I have never had a bad expirience.
probably nothing, but why would you want to take a chance on giving a baby expired food? If $$ is an issue there are many agencies that would help your baby get fresh formula.
I'm sure nothing, the date is just there to sell you more.
DON'T!
Nothing, as long as it has been kept in a cool dry place and stored properly. However, some of the nutrients may have lost their potency. If it was not stored properly, throw it away immediately, as this would pose a health risk to the child. If it's just a bit that was stored properly and is just expired by a few weeks, I would use it up straightaway, but be careful to use the next batch by the time on the can.
Expired powder not much just may not be as nutrious if its under 6 months past. I wouldn't use anything older then that because it contains moisture and could have bacteria or mold starting. Liquid formulas should not be used past 2-3 days after expirations if unopened- anything opened should be thrown out as they spoil very quickly.
i dont recommend using anything expired! I work in a retail store over freshness~ I recommend throwing it away and buying new. First off the reason it has an expriation date is because it looses its not as potent any longer. Second just like flour- little yeast bugs can devolp over the years in it (from air escapeing in). Also the power may of started to stink or worse clump! Because mositure can get in and that can also lead to causing infection on your baby. Just toss it and get new! Its not worth the risks...
food poisoning is a possibility, it depends how long ago was expired... expiration date has purpose...
There is an expiry date for a reason, use your head because you could make the baby ill.
that would be dumb to do that. Would you eat expired food or milk?
not a good idea the baby could get sick and even died
You could make your baby very sick. Don't be stupid. Throw it away.
Nothing so everyone chill out. The government hands out expired goods to needy people all the time. If you do not use it do not toss it ,donate it. The expiry date is a guideline the shops must follow to make sure the goods are fresh when sold. They last longer than the date, that is just the last day it can be sold. More than a year then you can toss it, unless it is powder it will last much longer. Hope that helps.
Another bit of advice ';If in Doubt throw it out'; But to calm your worries ask a nurse or physician
~A~
just dont
The baby will explode. Be careful.
A child some where dies.
Why would you do something like that? You're not actually feeding it to an infant are you? They have expiration dates for a reason.
nothing good, i would assume.
Call the manufacturer of the formula and ask them how safe it is to use. I'm sure if it has been sealed it is ok for a week or so, but check with them or your baby's doctor.
dont that would be dumb
Really bad taste, best scenario. Worst one, diarrhea for poor baby.
You wouldn't know the result until after the baby ingested the expired baby formula. Why not take it back to the store and ask to trade it for a freshly dated formula?
bacteria infection
If you were BFing you wouldn't have this problem
