What happens if I use expired powder baby formula?

Powdered milk doesn't ';go bad'; very quickly; it won't give baby a stomach ache. However, some of the vitamins in the formula have a maximum life span. In the worst case, a baby could suffer malnutrition, in particular scurvy. It is not fun and not something to mess with. However, that is only likely if you are using expired formula exclusively for a long time and probably only if it is *long* expired since there is a built-in margin of error. What happens if I use expired powder baby formula?
I should have been clearer--I am *not* saying that it is safe or a good idea to use expired formula. Malnutrition is not something to take a chance on. But it is unlikely that there would be a problem if you already *did* use some. Next time, throw it out on the expiration date. Report Abuse

call the hospital nursary for a proper answer!!
your baby could get diarrhea.
Wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry? Don't use it. If you are broke or desperate and determined to use it then return it to the store and tell them it was expired when you brought it home yesterday. Exchange it.
Your baby will get sick.
well what would happen if you drank expired milk? you would get an upset stomach, same thing with formula.
It will make your baby sick! Don't do that, never give your child spoiled food!
Don't use it..
You will probably give your baby an upset stomach just as you would get from drinking milk that is out of date. Babies do not have the immune system that adults do so you always have to be more careful with them. Always check the dates on all formula and baby foods--never use any out of date. It might not hurt your baby--but would it be worth that chance if it did??????????
It could make your child sick.

There's a reason the expiration date is on there.
dont use it
