when my daughter was born, i asked the same question.according to the doc.there was no danger in useing the powder on baby girls. Is baby powder unsafe for baby girls?
There is some debate whether it contributes to female reproductive cancers. But the particles are so tiny that they can be easiliy inhaled. The particles lodge in repiratory tract which isn't good for boys, girls, or adults.
Yes you're not supposed to use it--something about urinary tract infections.
corn starch baby powder is the only 'safe' powder for baby bottoms.
place a very small amount on your hand first, away from the babies face, and then gently apply to baby's bottom after cleaning.
the side effects are typically only respiritory infections, but is usually only a contributor, not a cause.
clean the powder off with every diaper change, and no need to use constantly. works best in the summer heat....not as a way to keep from having to change wet diapers as often. it only aids in the absorbtion of moisture, that causes heat rash and diaper rash. if the baby is getting plenty of water, then the urine shouldn't be so concentrated as to cause irritation.
