Why do basketball players such as lebron james and kevin garnett use baby powder before the game?

It's not baby powder, it's cocaine. Lebron and KG play the game while coked up.Why do basketball players such as lebron james and kevin garnett use baby powder before the game?
thats not baby powder, its called rosin (check spelling) its the same stuff thats in those sock looking bags behind a pitchers mound. it keeps the sweat from having such a big effect on handling the basketball or baseball, in a pitchers case. i thought it was powder too....Why do basketball players such as lebron james and kevin garnett use baby powder before the game?
I think it's just to remove some of the moisture(sweat) from their hands to help them handle the ball. I think it's Rosin tho like the rosin bags on a pitcher's mound. Well at least i was able to have the first right answer. That first answer is funny tho...to prevent chaffing.
it is not baby powder. it is to improve their grip on the ball. if their hands were all sweaty and slippery they wouldnt be able to catch the ball.
i play basketball and this is true dryer the hand = more control more control = better shot ever notice a baseball player pick sand up while batting better grip except everyone now uses gloves
Well I think it's to prevent alot of sweating and better grip of the basketball.
to grip the basketball (like the rosin bag in baseball)
To prevent chaffing in there groin region.
For grip on the ball, I think.
to get the sweat of their hands so the ball does not slip when they shoot it
