We always used it and never had any problems with it.Is baby powder bad for babies?
I don't know how this one got voted the best when i had more information. That sucks, just because this person ';never had any problems'; doesn't mean she is correct. What I said was correct!!! Too bad I can't demand a recount! Report Abuse
I have heard that baby powder can mean a higher risk for asthma and/or other breathing/respiratory disorders. I always use LIQUID BABY POWDER!!! Look at Wal-Mart, it's great!!! Report Abuse
I have never heard that
Its actually bad for babies with Asthma. Problem is, you usually can't tell a baby has Asthma until they are much older, so doctors recommend not using it at all. I used cornstarch, it does basically the same job, but with less dust.
If you have to use baby powder, use once without talcum. Talc is not good for babies. If your baby has an kind of asthma or allegies, it is best to not use it at all. Your baby can inhale to powder and hav ea hard time breathing. But if you take care on how you use it and don't use too much, you should be alright.
dont shake it use the talc type not the starch that breeds bacteria and put the powder in your hand on the baby and work it around slowly and also the rubbing is a bonding and is good for the child,, also my kid was always about to get a rash so i used creams on her tush a lot a%26amp;d
You shouldn't have a problem with it. How many mommies use it and never reported problems using baby powder.
Baby powder locks moisture in which can cause diaper rashes and yeast infections.
Talc is bad for the baby's lungs. That's why most baby powders are made of corn starch these days.
It isn't good for them to breathe in the powder, just be VERY careful not to make a lot of ';powder dust'; when you are using it. Also stay away from powder with Cornstarch, it is a breeding ground for bacteria. Just be careful not to get a lot of powder in the air and you will be fine. You can ask your doctor if you want, but my doctor told me not to use it AT ALL because it will cause diaper rashes and infections. I use it when she gets a diaper rash, it helps her. Trust your own judgement.
i find no problems with baby powder i use johnsons i just dont like the way its a bit like dusty
I personally have never had a problem. At child birth classes we were told that some of the powder can get into the baby lungs. Do not just squirt it on put it on your hand and pat it on the baby's bottom.
It is potentially bad for babies....the talc in baby powder can cause problems with lungs, and I read it was also a potential carcinogen. Just change to ';corn starch';. It's located right next to the baby powder and works exactly the same. I always used on my girls and LOVED it. Never had a diaper rash!
It is true that now they think that baby powder when inhaled could be bad for baby lungs but nothing totally defined. Just be careful if you want to use it. I never use it myself and my kiddo seems fine.
5 mamas dish the dirt... http://blogs.chron.com/mamadrama/
It is bad for the babies lungs. you shoudln't use baby poweder when you change the diapers
it is actually great, but there is a secret.
before changing your baby, open the fresh diaper AWAY from the baby, then sprinkle a good amount on the diaper. The dust that comes from the powder will be away from the tiny lungs!!!!
Baby Powder with Talc is bad for the baby's lungs. Even if you use corn starch, don't get powder floating through the air.
