Will baby powder prevent excessive sweating?

I'm only 14 and sweat a lot!!! I'm really embarresed can someone help will babypowder help? Will baby powder prevent excessive sweating?
I have been using baby powder for this problem for YEARS. I do not have cancer.

The reason that doctors do not reccomend it for use with infants is because the infants can inhale the powder by accident and it is not good for their respitory system.

Alot of the morons that chose to answer this question as if baby powder is bad for you do not have a clue what they are talking about. If it was bad for you they wouldn't SELL IT IN THE PHARMACY!

Anyway it will not keep you from sweating but it will absorb all of the sweat and it works very nicely.

CORN STARCH is NOT better because it is very very hard. Baby powder is also made from corn starch. Putting pure corn starch under your arms that has not been made into baby powder is something a MORON would do.

Sorry for my annoyed attutude but some people are just really ignorant.

Thanks

Nicole

Health care exp of 10 years-Will baby powder prevent excessive sweating?
I disagree with Fawne. I've been working in care since 1989 %26amp; I have never used it.

There ARE studies about talc and cancer.

There's lots of info out there, so you might want to look into it yourself.

Good luck with your research! Report Abuse

get some driclor deodorant
No it will just clog. Try a sports strength anti-perspirant.
It absorbs it so yeah, but not good if you have asthma by any chance...
NO dont it clogs the pores and will cause infection , midwives say not to use it on newborns, go with a roll on like sure or dove or naturel they do anti perspirent ones now i find them very good. Chin up , xxx
yes, baby powder or cornstarch absorbs the moisture.
Please don't use talcum powder, it does nothing good for your skin, all it does is absorb the moisture and then hold it against your skin, where the moist damp conditions are an ideal home for bacteria to multiply (which causes BO and other skin problems). I've worked in care for 16 years and it's banned in my field of work, it does nothing at all, it only absorbs literally just surface moisture, not any more that's produced.

You need to use an antiperspirant, not a deodorant. Deodorants cover up the smell, antiperspirants stop the sweat from coming out. There are some strong antiperspirants on the market, ones for excessive perspiration and that contain Aluminium chloride. In the UK some of them are Driclor and Anhydrol Forte which come in a bottle with a roll-on applicator from the chemist. Alternatively there are some on prescription from your Dr.

There are other things you can do to help, wear only cotton clothing, man-made fibres (polyester, nylon) do not allow the skin to breathe and make you sweat more. Take cool showers morning and night, and reapply any antiperspirant regularly.

I hope this helps, and I wish you lots of luck.
No, but it'll make it look like you're mixing a cake in your armpits. It could be like it happened to me, I had sweaty hands, exercising helped me, maybe it'll help you too.
Yes, it will help. Also you need a really good anti-persperant doedorant. Make sure you bath/shower/wash often. It's probably due to your hormones changing at your age, so don't worry that it'll always be like this. You're very wise to take care with your personal hygiene.
Baby powder will absorb the sweat to a degree, but is known to cause breast cancer in women because it is absorbed under the armpit and into breast tissue.
Are you talking about sweating under your arms? The get a really good antiperspirant. Baby powder is ground up mica and other minerals and it can help excessive perspiration but it can also cause chafing and skin problems. If it really bothers you a lot ask you parents to take you to an endocrinologist or dermatologist.
No. It will just clog your pores. You need an anti perspirant like Certain Dri or Mitchums. See a dermatologist if those don't help.
it doesn't prevent it, but it helps soak it up so it's not as noticeable. Corn starch works better %26amp; does the same thing.
Try talcum powder.

Or better still, an anti-perspirant deodorant. Ones with aluminium and alcohol are effective but not terribly good for everyday use, as these substances are absorbed by the body.

It'll probably ease off a bit when your hormones settle down a bit in a few years, but until then, experiment with different anti-perspirants and see what works for you.

If it's smell rather than moisture that worries you, try Pit Rock crystal deodorant; it's kinder to your skin and the environment, and I've been told it's very effective.
No like u i sweat more than normal and am only 15 ivve tried baby powder and it does not make much difference
No but it will help you stay fresher feeling longer.
not really, go to a pharmacy and ask for a deodrant called 'Driclor' it stops you sweating under your arms completely you use it every night and wash it off in the morning, no need for deodrant, really good!
It will soak up the moisture, but if you sweat too much it will all just go soggy. I wouldn't recommend. Try DRY deoderant, it's kind of sticky and hard but it's great. Try it.
Can you please tell me why the baby is sweating..Turn the heating down..will help
