Nope, it doesn't dry them out. I think most baby powder is made out of talc, which can really irritate skin and is actually carcinogenic. (see link)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talc#Safety
Basically, that means talc would probably make your pimples worse. Honestly, I personally would not even use it on babies. (but that's a different topic, lol)
However, toothpaste is a common household way to dry out pimples, or just make a paste out of baking soda and water and leave that on for a while. Does putting baby powder on pimples dry them out?
no because baby powder contains talc and talc can inflame ur pimples even more. for example in makeup foundation there is talc, and that is y most women experience some break outs. stay away from any products containing talc and baby powder..Does putting baby powder on pimples dry them out?
no, if anything it could clog your pores even more, causing you to have more pimples.
Try a blemish stick Burt's Bees makes one that works great!
NO!
Drying pimples out is not a good idea...i heard it causes swelling....
No, use tee tree oil instead. WOrks a charm
Hope this helps
xXx
Um not sure about that, try toothpaste:D
NO!!!
nope.
ya...even quicklime paste helps a lot.....

Is baby powder really all that bad?
when he was born the nurses instructed not to use baby powder because it can give babies namonia. If i dont keep baby powder on his neck it starts to rash up and smell. People have been using baby powder for YEARS so should i really be concerned? Or should i use an alternative? Is baby powder really all that bad?
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends against baby powder because of the problems it can cause when inhaled. They have many baby powder creams now that work fine.
In response to the one person's comment about babies sleeping on their stomache. The AAP also recommends putting babies to sleep on their backs.
This was recommended after numerous studies showed that it greatly reduces the risk of SIDS. In fact during the 70s when the recommendation here in America was to put a baby to sleep on it's tummy we had a pretty high SIDS rate while in England where they were saying to put baby to sleep on it's back they had an extremely low SIDS rate. That information led to studies and a change in the AAP's stance on the subject. Is baby powder really all that bad?
They use to say it was bad, but they changed the ingredient that was very harmful. You don't want them to inhale it all the same. I use it on my kids, I just make sure I shake it downwards, away from their face. I find that the baby powder with aloe and vitamin E works great. Just be careful not to get to much in the air. Some people say put it in the diaper. But, I shake a little on their bottom and try to keep it away from their face.
Did you mean Pneumonia? If so, no, baby powder is not that bad. However, you do not want your infant breathing in the dust from it. It can cause the alveolar sacs to be partially clogged. This can lead to difficulty breathing. I have not heard of it causing pneumonia though. I would suggest rubbing the powder on your hands away from the baby before putting it on him.
Don't use it. The problem with using baby powder is that babies can inhale or swallow it, which can cause all sorts of problems - particularly pneumonia. The fact that people have used it for a while doesn't make it the safest thing for your baby. Ask your doctor for an alternative product that you can use. In the meantime, try a rash cream like Desitin.
Use another alternative. Talc is similar to abestos and the talc can reach your infant's lungs at the
prospect of inhalation, and can be EXTREMELY dangerous to female babies. Exposing children to this carcinogen is dangerous and unnecessary. Find yourself a talc-free baby powder, not only are they all natural they wont cause harm to your baby.
When you shake the powder on their bottom the powder also gets in the air and they can breath it in and do damage to their lungs.there is liquid baby powder that you apply that doesn't get into the air, it goes on liquid and dries into powder and is more safe for the use you are talking about.
if baby powder works for you, use it!! they just say is not good in their private areas because babies dont need anything on their gentle skin..but if is working for you and curing something dont worry about it. is like putting your baby to sleep on their tummy, people have done it for years and now is a big NO NO, but thats another story
I have had 3 babies and have never had a problem with using baby powder (neither has my babies). However, if you want to avoid using baby powder the only thing you can do is clean your baby under the neck often and dry off his neck often.
It's one of those things that has been bent out of proportion. Keep the shaker AWAY from the baby while shaking into your hand. Then, place the stuff on the baby. People used to shake it directly on the baby, causing the baby to inhale this stuff, which of course, can cause pneumonia.
I am so tired of people saying that the way things were done in the old days are wrong! Sprinkle the powder in the diaper away from the baby and everything will be fine. Your butt got sprinkled with powder and so did mine and we are okay!
Use pure cornstarch baby powder. It makes less of a cloud in the air and works much better. I used/using it on both of my kids.
I've never used baby powder on either of my girls. I don't really see the point.
well i don't think its that bad...especially with fries i love it sprinkle just the right amount and it delicious.
use baby powder-cream..it works all the same..
i was told the same thingacne scars

Do you put baby powder on your baby?
Yes. I put it under his neck to absorb the moisture because he is always drooling and will get red lines on his neck from it. But, as soon as I started putting powder on him the lines went away.Do you put baby powder on your baby?
I use it everytime. If it cloged pores and got in their lungs and blah blah blah..it wouldn't be called BABY powder. If it was really soo bad why would they sell it for so long. The news pretty much lets you know about everything little thing wrong with ANYTHING in the world.. haven't heard anything about baby powder yet. Seriously people.. yall are way too paranoid. If I had to wear a diaper all the time I would want something in it like baby powderin it to keep it from rubbing. Plus.. it's not like you pour it all in their face. Be careful when you put it on them and make sure it doesn't go everywhere.. and you wont have to worry about anything.Do you put baby powder on your baby?
dont have my own, but i do have a nephew. u really do need to be careful with the particals. one time i was babysiting him and i changed his diper. it was the firt time id ever done it and i went to put baby powder on him, i shook the bottle to get it to come out and it went Poof! and covered his entire face! eyes, nose, and mouth. i was freaking out. luckily i got him cleaned off before he suffocated or something.
aside from the lungs issue, talc/powder isn't good in general as it gets trapped in folds of skin and thrush can grow in it. this is also why slapping on the nappy cream too thickly without wiping the folds of skin clean can cause thrush.
When she doesn't have diaper rash, its what I use to keep it away (minus the other factors such as peaches and antibiotics of course). I put some of it on my hand than pat it gently on because if you just squirt it on you get powder in the air and your baby can breath it in, which is obviously not healthy.
Yes. Despite what alot of people say, most baby powders on the market now do NOT contain talc and are mostly cornstarch to absorb the moisture. Check the ingredients on the bottle. If you can't find one without talc and alot of perfumes, try a natural/health food store. If I don't use powder on her bum she gets a rash,
No. I'd actually purchased some before she got here, but at the hospital the nurses said that they weren't allowed to use powder and didn't recommend that I use it either. Basically saying that the powder could get into the baby's lungs.
You know, I actually thought this was a joke

are touchy when you say you don't have
children. Ah, well.
Some times but it gets to dry now i use lotion and he seems to be more happy. When he goes to his mommy it's more smoother and feels better... And when he throws up all over the place it smells more like flowers instead of fresh cut grass!! Thank You
I agree...never use powder....not good for babys or your lungs...ummmmmmmmm ya moms used to think it was ok to smoke and they never put there kids in car seats...times change ...being willing to learn new things is a big part of being a mom......
my kidsa are not babies any more but I never put talc or any other product on them.I used only warm water and sometimes a bit of baby soap if needed and they had beautiful skin no spots or rashes I think people put too much crap on babies skin totally unecessary
I use baby powder when the weather is hot to keep prickly heat away but not on bottoms as it really does nothing. Never shake it on the baby tho- put it in your hand and dispense that way.
No, I never used baby powder. You have to be careful that they don't inhale the fine particles.
No, I heard that babies can inhale the small particles of talc and he also never got any nappy rash anyway so I couldn't see the point.
Yes I do, after I bathe her, I put some on before the diaper to soak up the moisture..
not all the time. usually first thing in the morning. i use the cornstarch kind, not talc
Never - it's bad for their lungs. Dry your baby off with a towel; it's not difficult.
I love Baby powder. Not only do I use it on my children but my self as well.
No, It is not needed and can clog pores and cause irritation.
no actually i don't i use desitin for diaper rash that's it.
No, never. its unnecessary and isnt good for the little babies lungs.

ya on his bum. but i like it in my older baby's shoes.
No, too messy.

Personally I don't like the idea of using powders, especially on a baby.
The tiny particles can be inhaled, rest in the eyes, or block skin pores.
I never used powder on my daughter when she was a baby (and her bottom was as soft as a baby's bottom)! lol
I don't own a baby.

What exactly does baby powder do for babies? is it just for freshness?
it DOES NOT prevent diaper rash. it causes diaper rash! i use it to keep my sons numerous fat rolls from smellinglike poop. i never saw the point until he plumped up... i bathe him everyday, but those rolls don't allow any air circulation, so the powder keeps him fresh.
so yes, it is just to keep him fresh. What exactly does baby powder do for babies? is it just for freshness?
my babys doctor recommended me not to use it on her because she can get asthma because of the inhalation. What exactly does baby powder do for babies? is it just for freshness?
Talcum powder is not recommended any more. But cornstarch, which is what many baby powders are made of, is fine to use, and can help keep a baby dry and comfortable during the hot, sticky days of summer.
Makes the skin feel smooth and powder absorbs moisture also
I generally just put some of the powder in my children's diaper so they don't inhale it so they can have that extra fresh smell
Nope, it helps to dry up sweat and urine so the baby has less of a chance of getting diaper rash... but it cakes and it's messy so I don't use it, I just change her diaper a lot. (And it's an added unnecessary expense.)
It's for freshness, but it's bad for their lungs. Doctors are recommending not to use it anymore.
baby powder makes an impermeable layer in the skin of teh baby that isolate the humidity caused by the diaper or the sweating.
i HAVE TWO BABIES 16 MONTHS AND THREE MONTHS AND I NEVER USE BABY POWDER. BECAUSE I WAS TOLD IT COULD CAUSE (IN GIRLS) A YEAST INFECTION, SO I NEVER USE IT. BUT ITS USES IS TO LOCK MOISTURE AWAY FROM THE SKIN JUST LIKE VASELINE.BUT IT SMELLS FRESH. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE PUT IT IN THEIR SHOES TO KEEP THEIR FEET FROM STINKING AND USING IT LIKE A DEODERANT.
it suppose to get them dry and fresh at the same time. i barely use it on my baby because it kept her too dry and she has very very dry skin. so i just used it on her clothes. it works just as well. and lotioned her down real good.
It helps prevent diaper rash!! And it smells good... Don't put a whole bunch on and it shouldn't be messy. I use it all the time and we have no messy problems with it. I would say it is a MUST HAVE! It also helps clear rash's quicker! ALSO Baby Magic lotion is good to put on the bottoms to prevent and clear rash's. I alway's put lotion and then powder on my 18 month old after bath's and use powder during the day... It really helps Put powder in diaper before you put it on baby, don't sprinkle on baby because it is bad for their lungs if they breath in to much powder dust. Just be careful in how you use it and it won't be a problem.
it also keeps them dryer when their in a wet diaper, i apply a%26amp;d ointment to my baby's bum if he's going to be in his diaper awhile. if u use it make sure it contains cornstarch not talc.

Can i use Johnsons baby powder on my baby's bum?
my baby is 8 days old and getting a sore bum! can i put johnsons baby powder on to help dry things up!!!!Can i use Johnsons baby powder on my baby's bum?
Powder won't heal up nappy rash. You need to use a cream to get rid of the soreness. Sudocreme is good, as is Bepanthen and there are plenty of others on the shelf to choose from.
Once the soreness is gone you can use powder to help keep things dry and smelling fresh but you are supposed to take care when shaking it as the powder in the air is bad for them (it was all over the news a few years ago). You are supposed to put the powder in a pot and dip in a cotton wool ball and apply that way but to be honest it's such a faff! I usually half twist the lid and shake a little out at a time. You just have to be sensible and not pour it on from 3 feet in the air like TV dads do!Can i use Johnsons baby powder on my baby's bum?
Another reason youre not recommended to use it is because it can cause breathing problems. Check the side of your container, it actually has a warning label on the Johnson's baby powder about this.
I just keep the bum dry as possible remembering to let it air dry after a change and before putting the diaper on, putting some vaseline on the area-- make sure its completely dry so you dont trap any moisture!
Baby powder will not get rid of the nappy rash. At 8 days old you are best to use warm water and cotton wool to clean the area. Make sure the skin is dry before you apply a nappy rash cream like Sudacrem or Metanium before every nappy change. Also leave off the nappy for an hour or so and let the air get to the nappy rash it will speed up the healing process.
if its a boy and he is circumcised, make sure that is healed up.. but i would just use a diaper rash cream because that is going to keep the urine from sitting on baby's butt. the powder isn't going to do anything but collect the urine and keep it on the bum... so just get a diaper rash cream. thats the best way to go about it. i never used baby powder on my son and he didn't have his first diaper rash until he was 8 months old.. and i only used the diaper rash cream a little at night
Baby powder is not good for them to breathe in, especially if it contains talc. It doesn't really help, anyway. Get something with zinc oxide in it, like Butt Paste (which has worked very well for us). If that doesn't clear it up, it may not be a diaper rash but actually a yeast infection. Then, your doctor can prescribe or make suggestions for what you can use.
Of course you can use baby powder on your baby's bum, it will prevent the nappy from rubbing and help to make sure he/she is dry before you fasten the nappy. There is nothing wrong with using a cream too, but talc is fine - just don't shake the container from up in the air.
since i was warned that , if inhaled, it could kill them i decided never to use baby powder on my son. i use sudocrem n bepanthen though the sudocrem is more worth it. i read that powder dries up the skin.
the best thing to do, apart from creams is to expose it to air.. put him on his bed/playmat with a changing-mat underneath without a nappy n let his skin breathe. my son didnt hav a prob with nappy rash but when i saw it gettin a bit red i would do all of the above plus change his nappy every 2 hours whether he had a bowel movement or not. the exp brands are usually better n if u use cloth nappies u should purchase some disposable just for the night.

Baby powder can hurt them?
wow, then my mum and my grandmother must be shot then.
Baby powder doesn't prevent nappy rash, it just freshens them.
Bepanthen is WONDERFUL for nappy rash, it provides a water proof barrier - and takes redness away almost immediately.
I would use sudocream its really good, the first sign of a rash i put it on my 4 month old and its gone. Also i wouls try leaving your baby with no nappy on for a short while at times this is also good for babies development.
Baby powder wont help the sore bum but it well prevent it a bit. Put something like sudocrem on where it's sore and in future if you use talc it might help keep the area a bit drier.
I recently was advised against using powder since the dust it creates can be harmful for baby to breathe.
Burt's Bees ';baby bee'; diaper rash ointment works really well.
Don't put the powder on his sore. That will probably irritate it. Just put some neosporin or healing cream on it. Good luck!
Try putting the johnsons baby lotion if its barley getting red and i would suggest using it every other time that you change his diaper
Seemly talc can cause some cancers, that's why its not on any latex gloves anymore
http://www.preventcancer.com/consumers/c鈥?/a>
Use Sudacream
no - use sudocrem every change- it's outstandingly good, my boy has never had nappy rash and is over 8 months now
keep nappy off a few mins between changes to dry bum
NO! Powder is dangerous for babies...google it ';Talcum powder baby danger'; it can get to their lungs...just give him plenty of time without a nappy and put some bepanthen on it.
Sudocrem. Nothing works better in my experience.
no they so no but cream powder sting to if they have baby rashacne scars

Sudocrem. Nothing works better in my experience.
no they so no but cream powder sting to if they have baby rash
Is it safe to put baby powder where the sun doesnt shine ?
Yes. That's where it's put on a baby, why not adults? Is it safe to put baby powder where the sun doesnt shine ?
Yes. Just don't inhale the powder, and cornstarch based baby powder is better. Is it safe to put baby powder where the sun doesnt shine ?
I have heard that the regular baby powder is bad for females to put in the nether regions...something about tiny bits of it can enter the body and lead to cancer...I am not sure of the details of what I read...I switched to corn starch powder which is supposed to be safe.
girl - NO.. guy, sure if it is cornstarch based
if u mean just between the butcheeks, yes. if ur talking up the wazoo, im not sure.
Sure, as long as you dry the area very well before you apply it so it doesn't get crumbly and irritate the skin. You may want to get powder with corn starch for optimum absorption and odor control. :)
of course its never hurt me
we use it on babys so it should be okay for us too, right
It's now not reccomended for babies, I think because something in it they can inhale. So just don't inhale!

Are women attracted to the smell of baby powder?
I've heard that women are turned on by the slight smell of baby powder on a man, similar to them seeing a man holding/playing with someone else's baby. I'm sure it's all subconscious, but has anybody else heard this? Are women attracted to the smell of baby powder?
well no i dont think tht we normally like a guy to smell like a babyAre women attracted to the smell of baby powder?
umm nope, never heard of the baby powder one
Yes, I heard of it before. The baby powder smell triggers something in the nerves of the nose, like pheromones, which travels up to the brain. This signal brings back pleasant childhood memories.
I think women are just attracted to the fact that they don't smell (bad)

How can I put powder on when there's baby hair in the way ?
I want to hide my imperfections,
and I could wear powder
but I have baby hair around my face : between my eyebrows and from my hairline to my eyebrows.
what can i do ?How can I put powder on when there's baby hair in the way ?
i am a beauty therapist and i wax this area for a lot of women - you are not alone! a beauty therapist would be happy to wax it for you and often they will just charge you for a regular eyebrow wax.
otherwise, when applying your powder, brush it on in the same direction as the hair growth. this will stop it from raising up and looking more obvious. How can I put powder on when there's baby hair in the way ?
start with moisturizer or a little bit of liquid foundation.
i have some hair on my face too... oddly enough, i really like it.
the liquid foundation or moisturizer will help the powder to stick to your face and not your baby hairs. just make sure that when you're applying the powder, go WITH your hairline so that the hairs don't stick up.
works for me! :)
hope i helped.
Go to a beautician and ask them about waxing those areas. Before you do that I would try a mineral powder - it's not a heavy powder and shouldn't really stick to the hairs making them noticeable.

You know those spoons that come in baby powder formula?
what is that equal to? i mean, is it a tablespoon, 2 teaspoons, etc. does anybody know?? thanks! You know those spoons that come in baby powder formula?
Try filling one with water and then measuring it using a teaspoon ... if there is a smaller amount left at the end, use a 'smaller spoon' and 'add it up' ... but BE CAREFUL because the 'spoon' in one type of formula may not be the same size as the spoon in another type of formula. You know those spoons that come in baby powder formula?
Different formulas have different measures, actually. If you look at the can of formula you use it should tell you -- it is generally *not* a measure of volume, such as a tsp or Tbsp, but rather, one of weight. One of those scoops is usually ';x'; number of milligrams.
If you lost the scoop, just open another can of formula and use the new scoop. I always saved the scoop, keeping a couple in reserve, in case one was accidentally thrown away or something. I also learned to be careful, when we changed formulas (even different lines of the same brand of formula), because the scoop sizes are not the same.
IT'S ONE TABLESPOON .
nope but why dont you take a table spoon and dump water in it till its full. How many tablespoons did it take?? I would guess 2 but my grandson hasn't had formula in quite awhile.
varies ,depends on manurfacter.some are concentrated some are richer. best to read label.
I never tried measuring them against an actual teaspoon but I did measure one against another and Enfamil Lipil, Similac Advance and Parent's Choice with DHA and ARA all have the same size scoop.
They are generally a tablespoon. But measure it to be sure.
My container says it is 0.2 ounces. or 8.5 grams. I'd convert it for you but school is over for me until the fall.
dont they have markings on the spoon anymore they used to.
All I know ours is 50mls of water is one scoop, look on side of the formula tin is really small writting its different for every one.

Baby powder and lung problems?
I have a 2 month old and I've been using baby powder on her at each diaper change. A friend of mine told me yesterday to stop using it b/c it causes asthma and problems with lungs. So I stopped but I don't know what to use now. Should I just wipe her bottom with wipes and leave it just like that or should I be putting a different product? Please advice.Baby powder and lung problems?
There's no need for powder. Just wipe her and put the diaper on. If she develops a rash, then use some Balmex, Desitin, or Butt Paste.Baby powder and lung problems?
They say it gets particles in the air and they inhale them. However if you are careful and do not shake it up and make a huge cloud it should be fine. I use some occasonally on my baby when her bum look like it has been a little too wet. Like when she has a really wet diaper. Also giving your baby time with out a diaper is good it gives her but time to breath. Just put a diaper or something you do not mind getting wet under her.
It depends on her skin, but if it is clean and not irritated you don't need to put anything on it. My daughter never got diaper rash. If her bottom is irritated try a diaper cream, but only use it when needed. Sometime letting the bottom air is the best thing. Keep her diaper off for a little while when you're someplace that she can pee without creating a problem.
just don't use the ones with talc
use the baby powder with cornstarch
or even I've heard just use cornstarchacne scars

If I put baby powder on my back will it help the sweating decrease? Also something else. Please read.?
It's summer time in Arizona and it SUCKS!!! I get hot and sweaty and my face gets all red, and my backpacks not making it any better for my back sweat. It's Disgusting! Any ways I can stop my face from turning red? Or is there none :(. Also if I put baby powder on my back will it help the sweating decrease? Thanks for the help.If I put baby powder on my back will it help the sweating decrease? Also something else. Please read.?
The powder might probably reduce the sweating. However it might not stop it.
There's something you might need to understand. The sweating is for the purpose of cooling down your body. You should basically be replacing the water lost by drinking more than usual since you're sweating so much. The flush in your face also serves for your protection against the heat.
I am not sure, however if the redness of your face is as a result of the heat or direct exposure to the sun. If it is as a result of direct exposure to the sun it would be good if you increase the amount of tomatoes you eat. This will help with the bodies natural defense against damage as a result of exposure to the sun. If I put baby powder on my back will it help the sweating decrease? Also something else. yea, it'll help stop sweat if you dust your back with baby powder
but for the red face,
you really cant control that
i live in arizona too
and wow.
its extremely hot

The baby powder probably will help but the red face is just your body and besides getting a red face just means blood goes to your head. Besides it means your healthy!

What can I mix powder with in a bottle for breastfed baby?
I want to give my son some probiotics that come in a powder form. But he is breastfed so I don't know how to do this. I could pump and give it to him with breastmilk but I would only want to do this once a day at most. I would like to give this powder to him more often to help him deal with gas and tummy issues.
Any ideas what to mix the powder with so that he will take it?What can I mix powder with in a bottle for breastfed baby?
I wouldn't give a baby anything without speaking to his/her pediatrician first. If your doctor is okay with the supplements, he/she will let you know how to mix them. What can I mix powder with in a bottle for breastfed baby?
I would ask your doctor about this. Breastmilk is naturally filled with probiotics! Its is probably not necessary to add more probiotics. Babies will have a lot of fussiness and gas, mine sure did, and he was breastfed and had some formula on occasion. Have you tried feeding him more often? Sometimes they are more gassy because they are so hungry at each feeding that they eat too fast.

Where does the scent in baby powder come from?
Baby powder is generally made from talc. This is due to its absorbent, softness qualities and the fact that it is safe for most of the population to use.
The talc doesn't have an odour. A fragrance is added during crushing and filling. Different manufacturers will use 1 or more fragrances; an example is lavender.
You can get odourless baby powder.Where does the scent in baby powder come from?
I don't have an official answer, but I reckon they add some kind of perfume.Where does the scent in baby powder come from?
if im not mistaken, it comes from the talcum powder used in it. i very well could be wrong though.

Do you use powder when changing baby?
I've been using powder on my 6 month old at each diaper change since she was 4 months (when she got a bad rash) My mom suggested it because it would help absorb her urine when she went.Do you use powder when changing baby?
I don't see any reason not to use powder at each diaper change
(however let me qualify that answer)
I would NOt use talcum powder as it has been said that it can have health problems from prolonged exposure. It is also said to be a contributor to asthma when it is inhaled often enough.
That is why most companies have switch from talcum to cornstarch which is the better healthier choice. Cornstarch powder looks the same, feels the same and smells the same as talcum powder, but with way less possible health side effects.Do you use powder when changing baby?
Nope. We've never routinely used any type of rash prevention (cream, Vaseline, baby powder etc). I used rash cream maybe twice when he was just a couple of months old because he would get a rash right on the inside of his legs because of his chub rolls, but that's about it. He did have a random rash a couple of months ago that I powdered before bed, and it helped a bit, but now that we've changed wipes brands his rash is better.
I guess I've always figured that if I'm changing diapers as often as I should, the pee isn't going to be there long enough to cause any problems.
My daughter's pediatrician told me not to use powders. She recommended that I put Vaseline on her at every changing. My baby kept diaper rash all the time until I changed brands. Pampers seem to work a little better than Huggies, and her rash isn't as bad anymore. Maybe try changing diaper brands. It also helps to use a warm, wet, washcloth when changing them, and letting them air dry. Going without a diaper for as long as possible really works. Hope this helps!
yeh its good to use it. but probably not all the time cos it might give her thrush. just every couple of nappies. i use it when my boy does poos to get rid of the smell lol
I always did and still do. My 4 yr old son still wears a diaper at night for bed wetting and I use powder every night when I diaper him. I think it helps especially at night when they spend more time in a wet diaper.
I have always used the johnson and johnson with corn starch in it at each diaper change and it really seems to help with moisture control.
i never used it with either one of my kids. Their doctor told me not to. She said it can cause infection. I never had a problem with them getting rashes. Maybe two or three times ever.
No, I've actually heard it isn't recommended anymore due to health hazards.
be sure to sprinkle it and not puff
puffing the powder causes it to cloud around the baby
and too much inhaled can cause asthma
I've always prefered alittle Destin cream to prevent diaper rash

Is baby powder a preservative?
i'm just asking. Because i've done a weird experiment during school holidays.
First i pluck some green leaf then put it inside a plastic box and cover it with baby powder then close the box then put it under my bed.
After a few days, the leaf is not dry yet, and it's still green. Is baby powder a preservative?
it might be moisturiser..not the preservativeIs baby powder a preservative?
I think it's a preservative.
No synthetic fragrances, no harsh chemicals or synthetic preservatives. Use Baby Powder sparingly

the smell attracts me and it tastes good for some reason i cant keep myself from eating it and when i don't eat it it drives me crazy. i crave it all the time.
Has anybody used Johnson's baby powder with cornstarch?
Does it really get rid of excess perspiration(for my underarms?)Has anybody used Johnson's baby powder with cornstarch?
yea
i use it all the time
and i would recommend it to you because i go out dancing all the time and i don't want to lift up my arms and have a big wet stain under my arms. It works really great.Has anybody used Johnson's baby powder with cornstarch?
i use it for my daughters nappy n its great with that
I use it all the time.It is great for blocking and protecting skin against moisture.. never used it on underarms but i would assume it would work.. just makes me wonder how it would be on the deodorant areas.
The stuff is pretty good....for babies. If you have a problem with excess perspiration than consult a doctor about other alternatives. You know they now sell deodorants that are prescription strenghts in stores right now. Go to your local pharmacy or Walmart pharmacy and ask the pharmacist. It's cheaper than a doctor. The powder will only clump and add more unwanted odor and I know that's not what you want. Check it out or while you're online look it up. Good luck!
only for a little while....
Cornstarch is good for absorption of perspiration temporarily but it doesn't last very long.acne scars

and i would recommend it to you because i go out dancing all the time and i don't want to lift up my arms and have a big wet stain under my arms.
Cornstarch is good for absorption of perspiration temporarily but it doesn't last very long.
Does Baby Powder take the itch out of misquito bites?
Not sure, but I don't think so. Try a little rubbing alcohol and just wipe it on the bite and the itch will go away immediately. (It won't hurt as long as you didn't scratch it open.)Does Baby Powder take the itch out of misquito bites?
No, but you might try goldbond itching powder if your wanting to use a powder. also baking soda with a little water makes a great paste to relieve the itch. and try equal parts water and vinager in a spray bottle, put on you and your clothes when going out side, helps itch and keeps them away from you!Does Baby Powder take the itch out of misquito bites?
No. It just makes it smell like baby powder.

idk, but if you put ice on it it numbs the bit, and the swelling goes down.
numb bite=no itch.
No but I agree with a previous post baking soda and water mixed really helps.
Haven't heard that one, try making a paste with baking soda and water. If you have many bites take a benedryl

Using Baby Powder for Oily scalp?
I tend to sweat a lot on my scalp, so I put baby powder on my head to cover/soak up the grease and sweat.
So I guess my question is that, ';Does this clog my hair follicles, and is healthy to do every day?';
I heard many people do this, but I want to know if there is any consequences, like causing pimples on scalp, etc.
Thanks in advance.Using Baby Powder for Oily scalp?
No it will not I do the same thing although sometimes the baby powder will show if you have darker hair so you can always try colored powdered like hayley williams does I can't remeber what its called though but it comes in all different shades....but no it won't cause any irratationUsing Baby Powder for Oily scalp?
I use to do this, But I found a much easier way to get rid of the grease.
You can buy this from chemists, superdrug..boots..
Its called dry shampoo.
http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/batiste-s鈥?/a>
I don't think baby powder does block the pores, but I would recommend using the dry shampoo instead as it is especially made for hair.
i do this sometimes and i have never had a problem because the powder absorbs the oil it is not entering the pores

How many months should a baby be before you start adding powder food to the milk?
Your baby's pediatrician will let you know when to introduce new things at a monthly check-up when the baby is ready. All babies develop at different paces and the doctor is the best judge for when the baby is ready.
If olive oil comes from olives, corn oil from corn, where does baby oil come from? & baby powder?
well, olives need to be squeezed to ';give it up'; and if I recall correctly, so does corn.
Baby's, however, give it up about 10 times a day. You've seen those diaper service trucks? Well, they collect the liquid ';excretions'; and some of the solids as well, and refine them into..... yep, you got it, baby oil and baby powder.
It doesn't feel so good now that you know where it comes from, does it. Kinda like eating hot dogs while you watch ';how hot dogs are made';.If olive oil comes from olives, corn oil from corn, where does baby oil come from? %26amp; baby powder?
baby powder comes from cornstarch and is ground into a fine powder. baby oil comes from natural oils and moisturizers, I'm not sure what because I don't use it, but I know most of it is natural ingredients. If olive oil comes from olives, corn oil from corn, where does baby oil come from? %26amp; baby powder?
Baby powder is made from talc or cornstarch
Baby oil is highly refined and purified mineral oil
Baby oil is just mineral oil. Baby powder is cornstarch and talc with scent added. They use the word baby b/c it's sensitive enough to be used on a baby's skin.
they just say '; baby powder '; and '; baby oil ';
because it is used on babys. *
mineral oil with scent and other perfumes that are added-bay oil. Baby powder-corn starch and other substance with perfume.
ha ha ha ha ha....
when a mommy oil and a daddy oil really, really love each other, they get together in a special hug and make a baby oil...
same sort of thing happens for the mommy powder and daddy powder to make a baby powder....
Dang! Didn't your parent's ever tell you about the facts of life for cosmetics....
tsk! tsk!
feel free to write again when you are confused.
Some baby oil comes from Mineral Oil, Aloe Vera Extract, Vitamin E, Acetate, Fragrance. And baby powder are made of harmless ingredients like Zea Mays (corn) starch, Oriza sativa (rice flower), symphytum officinale (comfrey), Anthenis Nobilis (chamomile), rosemarinus officinales (rosemary) and lavendula augustofolia (lavender) oil.
You remind me of this joke about a Russian emigrant who says to his American friend, ';You Americans are so advanced--you have milk powder, juice powder, even baby powder. I know you just add water to make the milk and the juice--is that how you make babies, too? Just add water and stir?'; :)

Are you supposed to put baby powder in you babies' diaper?
i usually dont.. if she has a rash i use bag balm or something, but when i was in the hospital with my daughter they lectured me on how they are saying baby powder is no longer good for them.. i guess its good to make them smell good..Are you supposed to put baby powder in you babies' diaper?
Disposable diapers are really good these days at holding wetness away from the baby's skin so baby powder is not really neccessary anymore. I've been changing diapers for 9 years and never bought a single bottle of it.
If you do want to use it, though, just remember to use the cornstarch version, as talc is dangerous, especially for girls. Also, a little goes a long way so use sparingly. Are you supposed to put baby powder in you babies' diaper?
Cornstarch works well too but honestly, I never used either. The dust from it can get in their lungs and make it hard for them to breathe. To be honest, as long as you keep their wet and dirty diapers changed immediately and their bottoms clean you really don't need powders in their diapers.
I've never bought any and I've never used anything on my son's bottom except a diaper wipe when needed and he's never had a rash or problem. I think this is one of those ';baby essentials'; that is really more of a ';baby gimmick'; on new parents who think they have to have absolutely EVERYTHING available or they won't be doing something right. There really isn't a need.
I only do if there's a moisture problem- but not in the diaper but directly on the skin. But, do it cautiously. It is dangerous for them to inhale the ';dust';.
My mom told me to use vaseline on baby's bottom to prevent rashes etc. I did for my son and he never had a rash. My sis-in-law didn't and her twins got lots of rashes.
Anyway, it doesn't hurt :)
my parents did that with me and my sister (we're 21 and 18) but mothers i see now, at least ones i know, dont do that.

Best way to apply baby powder with no mess?? HELP?
I use it to stay dry and cool during the summer. It's so messy- my room is covered in what looks like dust, but it's the babypowder that circulates! O_o Anyone know? how about if I want to keep some in my purse to take on the go- any travelling ideas? greatly appreciated- thanks =DBest way to apply baby powder with no mess?? HELP?
why do u use baby powder to dry you?
Baby powder don't work for me..Best way to apply baby powder with no mess?? HELP?
Step in your shower shut the curtain put ypur powder on then just rinse it out with the sprayer.
I use a large face pad (the round ones) and also sometimes sprinkle some powder in a bowl and use a big brush (like the ones we use for our face). Either way, the whole body parts you want dusted with no mess. And you can buy smaller brushes and face pads and put them in a ziplock bag to put in your purse when you go out. Many drug stores carry purse size things for traveling.
I don't know if you're aware, but a new creme has come out that supposed to work like baby powder, only it's a cream, I don't know the name, but you shouldn't have any problem finding it. I know what a pain the powder can be, i use it too.

Is it ok to use baby powder on a males private parts?
i also heard u can put it in your sock or shoe so your feet dont get sweaty and smelly while ya outdoors i play basketball so i sweat alotIs it ok to use baby powder on a males private parts?
Yes it's ok to use baby powder on those areas. Is it ok to use baby powder on a males private parts?
Baby powder should be fine unless you are allergic to it. Also, I wouldn't recommend using deodorant. Also, it's the area around your testicles that makes the smell so put the powder on there and it probably helps to shave down there if you aren't already doing that.
Yes, it's perfectly fine.
Where do you think you put baby powder on a baby boy .... if it's okay on a baby, it's going to be okay on you.
Wash your A$s and powder up a little dove under there can't hurt either. But please no cologne that **** burns.
I don't see why not. Have you tried taping an odour eater under your balls?

Putting baby powder on sweaty palms and then deodorant? HOw does that work!?
i thought deodorants are used for your pits only.. i mean u wont get hand cancer or anything right? does anyone use certain dri.. i heard a person puts that on their hands as well.. okay now im confused.
1. do u apply baby powder first and then put deodorant?
2. will putting ur hands and feet in tea help?Putting baby powder on sweaty palms and then deodorant? HOw does that work!?
eating certain foods can encourage sweating. Keeping hands from sweating can be a body heat thing, which is good because their metabolism is excellent and I bet they aren't overweight.
You can add lemon balm to the eating habits to help keep the body cool and keep down the sweaty palms. Using a soap that helps fight bacteria is useful too.
As for the above, it's an either or, but the deodorant would kind of defeat the purpose, so powders would be more effective.

A question about baby powder?
I've heard on that one show the Doctors that baby powder is really bad for babies because of the talcum powder. What is there to use instead, or should I just not use anything? I cut this out from a website too..
Talcum powder contains a substance similar in composition to asbestos, and some studies have linked the use of talcum powder to increased incidence of ovarian cancer. Accidentally inhaling it can lead to serious respiratory problems or even death.A question about baby powder?
As long as you don't use it on a little girl (it can cause yeast infection) and are sensible about it -- obviously you shouldn't pour it in a baby's face!
my husband uses it on our son but I hate it. It causes a big mess. One time my son got a hold of the bottle and squirted it in his face. He is JUST FINE. alive and well. He thought it was funny.
I just use Balmex or Aveeno cream to prevent rashes and it works just fine.A question about baby powder?
That stuff is atrocious! There honestly is no need to use anything at all, like stated above just take time and care in making sure that your childs bottom is thoroughly dry and there shouldn't be any reason for complication. Honestly I view that stuff as just another baby marketing ploy to get you to buy things that are unnecessary, but that's just me. Hope this helps ya girl!! GOD BLESS!!
I know some people have replaces baby powder with corn starch. It is suppose to be healthier for babies. I personally dont use either and my 13 month old son has never gotten a diaper rash or any problems at all.
It's really not necessary. Just make sure your baby's bottom is dry before placing a diaper on it and use rash cream overnight or for rashes.
i have never heard of baby powder killing a child. i use it on my 1 year old still and he feels softer and smells better.
We don't use it, and don't have any problems.
johnson's makes corn starch baby powder. If not, plain old cornstarch if fine!

How old a baby should be to be given chocolate powder ?
In milk, as a flavour enhancer, I mean. My 10 month old doesnt like her milk atall, an I am running out of ideas.
Any tips for choosing a good chocolate powder guys? How old a baby should be to be given chocolate powder ?
Um, none. She shouldn't have milk at all yet. And, if you're worried about her not drinking formula, as long as she's eating veggies, fruits, etc, and has wet diapers regularly, there is nothing to worry about. When you do switch to milk after a year of age, she should have no chocolate added to it. She may never like milk. I never did. 70 percent of people are lactose intolerant. Giving her chocolate brings in unhealthy eating habits and will increase the likelihood that she will develop childhood diabetes and become obese. Not worth it so she drinks milk. She can get those same vitamins from cheeses, yogurts, and fruits and veggies. How old a baby should be to be given chocolate powder ?
Well, most doctors recommend not giving children cow's milk until one year of age now.
Personally, I don't think it's the best idea to get her to drink milk by putting a sugary flavor enhancer in it. I suspect that a kid will never want to drink milk any other way. And since they drink a lot of milk, that's a lot of sugar.
So are you giving her cows milk or is this formula she doesn't like? I don't think chocolate milk is a good idea for a 10 month old. 10 month is a bit early for cows milk too but I have heard of 10 months olds having it without any problems though. Most kids love their milk. Perhaps you could try to warm it up instead of giving it to her straight from the fridge or try changing milk brands. They do vary in taste.
Are you kidding? She is a baby, she shouldn't even be on cows milk for another 2 months. And never with sugary stuff added to it.
no need to enhance the milk -it has natural sugars. avoid cow's milk %26amp; opt for soy or almond varieties.

Can baby powder also be used as foot powder to control feet sweating and smelly feet.?
I suppose, but you may need something a little stronger. Can baby powder also be used as foot powder to control feet sweating and smelly feet.?
only if you enhale itCan baby powder also be used as foot powder to control feet sweating and smelly feet.?
Yes, and you can also try Gold Bond medicated powder.
yes. but it would be better to use foot powder since the foot has more bacterial growth if you use baby powder thus requiring more frequent cleansing.
though some believe it can be but shouldnt be simple boric powder would be better or a mixture of calamine boric powder and zinc oxide can be used for this purpose
Sure, but it is better to use something that also contains corn starch, such as shower-to-shower, or gold bond.

i would like my dog to smell better after a bath,i use good shampoo but does not help for long.thanksCan anyone tell me if you can put baby powder on a dog after it dries from a bath to help it to smell better.?
Not talc, it's the number one cause of poisoning in infants, so I assume it is bad for dogs too. Cornstarch might be ok.Can anyone tell me if you can put baby powder on a dog after it dries from a bath to help it to smell better.?
Dogs have a different pH balance to there skin then people do so products you use could really irritate a dogs skin. Its best to get something formulated for dogs either from your vet, a feed store, or even petsmart/pet supermarket
the fragrances in the powder might break out his skin, baking soda would be better :)
Dont put baby powder on him, although it wont hurt. It will just agrivate his skin. Use either dog perfume or you can use some of your sent stuff and spray it on him. I would reccomend notgetting it on their face. Also, if it is an unhelthy smell, call the vet. It could be a little disease starting. Hope i helped!
i don't think it would be good for the dog but if u did it would probolay not work hi
Actually, you should use shampoo specifically formulated for dogs. Not only do they have ingredients that are animal safe, they also have some that have built-in odor removers.
Guess what else they have? Puppy perfume! You can keep Fido smelling fresh in between baths.

Best not to, as this really could irritate your dogs' skin if not completely brushed out each time.
I use Baby Dog scented shampoo, and for inbetween baths, I mix a little in a demister spray, and use it as a grooming spray! It smells super! =)

Is there another designer perfume that smells like ';clean baby girl by dlish'; Or just a sweet baby powder?
if you want a perfume that smells of baby powder
make your own
i do, i also make my own laundry detergent that smells of baby powder too
get cosmetic grade baby powder oil, make sure its cosmetic grade
and you are good to start
Step-By-Step Instructions:
Concentrate of essential oils (ie baby powder)
2 1/2 oz of 100 Proof Vodka
2 tbsp of Distilled or Spring Water (add more water if needed)
Take your essential oil concentrate and add to Vodka, stirring slowly but long enough to disperse the oils. Let this mixture stand for 48 hours, then add 2 tbsp of distilled or spring water, again stir slowly and thoroughly. Let this mixture stand another 48 hours. Some people let there perfume stand anywhere from four to six weeks curing time, this way you will get a stronger perfume, and not a cologne. This choice is up to you, just remember if the formula seems too strong you can always add more water and dilute it back down. After letting the perfume mature or cure, pour through a coffee filter (so any sediment does not get in the final product) into your bottle. Voila鈥?your very own signature perfume. Enjoy!!!!
buying perfume counts for 10% of the costs
the rest is marketing and packaging
so now your perfume costs you 1/10th of what it did
and you have the staisfaction of knowing you are not spraying crap chemicals on you and paying through the nose for it either

I've heard that a diaper rash is like a yeast infection, so will baby powder get rid of my infection?
as far as i know baby powder will not get rid of a yeast infection and the only thing baby powder does is help from getting diaper rash so your best bet would to get the over the counter yeast infection cream or go to your doctor and get it taken care of as soon as you can cause trust me i have had one yeast infection in my life and i hope i NEVER have another they suckI've heard that a diaper rash is like a yeast infection, so will baby powder get rid of my infection?
NO! In fact, Baby Powders can Cause Yeast infections. You need to be properly diagnosed if this is the first time you've had one. By a Dr., Nurse Practitioner, or Physician's Assistant.
There are many things that can be causing an infection besides yeast; so please don't be self diagnosing and treating.I've heard that a diaper rash is like a yeast infection, so will baby powder get rid of my infection?
Some diaper rashes are yeast infections, but they're in the minority and require the same antifungal drugs that are used to treat yeast vaginitis, though in a different vehicle.
No. You need to use antifungal cream.
Baby powder doesn't cure nappy rash per se, it prevents it from happening.
Edit: The only thing that ';causes'; yeast infections is yeast. Baby powder may or may not exacerbate the infection but does not cause it.

Can you take baby formula on an airplane in POWDER form?
I know you can take liquid formula, but I'm going to have to make it hours before we fly, and taking powder is much easier. I would be taking it in one of the portioned containers, so it wouldn't be in it's original container. Can you take baby formula on an airplane in POWDER form?
Yes, as long as the baby is with you, it's allowed. Here's the TSA website;
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/c鈥?/a>
I actually do NOT recommend those portioned containers. They're not that practical. Use bottles with disposable liners, premeasure the powder, roll them up and place the rolls in a regulation ziplock bag. No need to seal them and if it makes you feel better, strip off the formula lable and put it in there with the bags.
Not only will this be much more obvious to security what you're bringing but much eaiser to use during your trip. Those containers are fiddly and traditional bottles are really hard to wash on airplanes which don't have proper sinks. I was also able to bring much more this way because it's much more compact. I only had the top part to wash. The bag was thrown away.
Now the debate is over the water bottles. Sometimes they're confiscated, sometimes not. Take it unopened and try to get it through. Hopefully they'll be cooperative. Otherwise, you're out about a dollar and will have to buy water in the terminal before you board. Just don't sweat it either way!
Before leaving, as an extra tip, please make sure your baby is used to a room temperature bottle. Yes, the F/A's will warm your bottles but it's a real pain when traveling to do this extra task. There is no health advantage to a warmed bottle to the baby. Remember that there wont be any F/A's to warm the bottles in the waiting area or on the way from the airport, etc.
I haven't flown with formula in awhile but I've been giving these tips out for about seven years and no one so far has reported any problems.
I've found security pretty cooperative with families. They see me alone with three and they're usually very nice, putting me in the handicapped line, etc. Fingers crossed you have good luck too!
I wrote an article about flying with children when I was still a F/A. It's been constantly updated and will soon get its own site. For now, I've put it on a blog. It's totally non-commercial, to the point that I don't mention product names.

I love the smell of baby powder, but I don't know where to put it on myself. Any suggestions?
Under your arms, behind your elbows or knees, under your hair on the back of your neck, between your legs (which is actually useful in the summertime LOL)
Also use powder scented deodorant and try Love's Baby Soft perfumeI love the smell of baby powder, but I don't know where to put it on myself. Any suggestions?
Well I recommend you buy products that have that scent. Like baby powder deoderant for one thing. For the powder itself, put it some place that you normally sweat more, and where people won't see. If you put it all over it may dry your skin which is why I recommend putting it on an area of your body where you have more oily sweat glands. If you wear your hair down, try it on the back of your neck. The scent will be obvious there but any powder or whiteness left behind won't be visible. Also try behind the ears.I love the smell of baby powder, but I don't know where to put it on myself. Any suggestions?
Me Too!! i found a perfume that smells like baby powder AND its only $12 or 2 for $15.99!! u cant mix or match with body cream that is the same scent. i cant live without it, its called sweet honesty heres the link

Buy some baby lotion, and put it on your arms, leg, etc...
Other places?
Between your bedsheets.
In your underwear drawer.
places where you sweat, your underarms, behind your knees.
Your underarms and feet. I love the smell of baby powder too.
Mix with a moisturizing lotion and put it all over! Make sure to use it on your feet when you wear heels
between your legs and under your breast.

Which is better for baby's digestion - powder or ready- to -use formula?
Do you know how different powder formula from ready-to-use formula. I'm using Enfamil Lipil. They are different color. Why?Which is better for baby's digestion - powder or ready- to -use formula?
The reason they are different in colors is because the ready to feed or concentrate is prepared with preservatives and is sterile requiring little or no preparation and that's why there is a different color. Powder formula is not able to be sterilized and is usually cheaper per oz. I tried powdered formula but our daughter responded well to the ready to feed with no gas or constipation. It really depends on the baby though I have friends that feed powder only and have no problems but have problems with the ready to feed so all babies are different. Its about your budget as well, ready to feed is sooo expensive but found that concentrate is about 20 per month more for us rather than the powder something im ok with its just not for everyone. Good luck and hope this helps...Which is better for baby's digestion - powder or ready- to -use formula?
i dont think that one in particular is better, unless you have a premie then they need ready to feed for sterile reasons, i like the powder, so does my budget! as for the color variation, not a clue

Does baby powder contain asbestos?
Is talc asbestos? I understand there is an incredient in baby powder that is detrimental to humans. Do you know what it is?
An organic farmer at our farmer's market is using ';baby powder'; on the apples to keep the birds away.Does baby powder contain asbestos?
It's debatable depending on whether he was using baby powder with talc or with cornstarch. I wouldn't eat an apple that had either put on them.
Baby powder usually consists of talcum, a very light weight mineral.
Several studies have established preliminary links between talc and pulmonary issues, lung cancer, skin cancer and ovarian cancer. This is a major concern considering talc's widespread commercial and household use. However, no conclusive study has yet been made to determine either the toxicity and/or carcinogenic nature of talc and the long history of safe use suggests that these concerns are unfounded. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers non-asbestiform talc, that is talc which does not contain potentially carcinogenic asbestiform amphibole fibers, to be Generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for use in cosmetics. In 1993, a US National Toxicology Program report found that cosmetic grade talc caused tumours in animals, even though it contained no asbestos-like fibres. Scientists have been aware of the toxicity of talc since the late 1960s, and in 1971 researchers found particles of talc embedded in 75 percent of the ovarian tumors studiedDoes baby powder contain asbestos?
Baby Powder is mostly talcum powder NOT asbestos.
Using asbestos is illegal in the US in ANY application.
Talcium powder is hydrated magnesium silicate one of the softest minerals.
I would tell your farmer that the whole idea of organic foods is that there are not extra chemicals added, including baby powder. Baby powder may be fine to absorb urine, sweat and orders, but NOT to eat. If he is using baby powder made ONLY with corn starch then it is safe to eat and already in a lot of the foods you buy.
Once upon a time talcum powder may have been mixed with asbestos, but that hasn't been true for 2 generations. Since then corn starch has been added.
The cancer causing effects are rumors that are not backed by any study and the FDA considers it safe.

';Cornstarch has been used as a replacement for talc in baby powder.';
According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_Powder
';A coarse grayish-green high-talc rock is soapstone or steatite and has been used for stoves, sinks, electrical switchboards, etc. Talc finds use as a cosmetic (talcum powder), as a lubricant, and as a filler in paper manufacture. Talc is used in baby powder, an astringent powder used for preventing rashes on the area covered by a diaper (see diaper rash). Most tailor's chalk is talc, as is the chalk often used for welding or metalworking.
Talc is also used as food additive or in pharmaceutical products. In medicine talc is used as a pleurodesis agent to prevent recurrent pneumothorax. In the European Community the additive number is E553b.

baby powder is NOT toxic to humans... now, for birds, i really don't have a clue... but just because it isn't toxic doesn't mean you should go ahead and ingest copious amounts straight out of the bottle... THAT's just plain stupid.
Well, do you really think that baby powder could be sold if it knowingly contained asbestos??? DUDE, come on now, really?
never heard of that before.

For shaving, does aloe gel or baby powder work to help with razor burn?
because i was looking at other questions and they said the powder does, but i have some friends and say it does not. also when i am doing shaving my legs i have to wear shorts not pants until the lotion dries or i get what i think is like a razor burn, and it really annoying if i am about to go somewhereFor shaving, does aloe gel or baby powder work to help with razor burn?
Anything I've read or tried points to Aloe Vera being the best for soothing and moisturizing razor burn. Baby powder is a bad idea to apply after you've already gotten razor burn because it can further irritate your skin. Try putting that stuff on a baby's bottom after they've got diaper rash and you'll hear the screaming kick in. Baby powder in it's original use is meant to remove moisture and friction and prevent a rash from breaking out, which is why you should use it to prevent razor burn instead of treat it.
Something else you might want to try is Boudreaux's Butt Paste. It works wonders on all types of rashes by protecting and moisturizing the skin. I know it sounds like a testimonial, but coming from a household full of little kids that I had to help raise for years, I consider it as essential as Band-aids, rubbing alcohol and Neosporin. Check out their website and you can get a free sample.
Your best bet is to shave carefully with a sharp, clean (meaning rust and hair free) blade, and to moisturize afterwards with a lotion that is perfume free and as natural as possible. Don't use too much so that the lotion has a chance to dry quickly without blocking your pores. Refrain from using a perfume-heavy lotion a day or so in advance to shaving if you're particularly sensitive. When you shave don't use too much pressure or move too quickly, as this causes those ingrown hairs that make for particularly painful razor burn.
Sometimes there is just no helping razor burn in certain spots if your skin is just that sensitive, especially if it's somewhere like the bikini area.
Another suggestion is to try waiting a day or two before you shave again, or the opposite, shaving before the hair has a chance to grow in at all. Try both and see what works best for you.
The reason you'll get seemingly conflicting advise is because your skin is going to react differently from another person's. What works really well for some isn't necessarily going to be as effective, and may even make things worse for you. When you try a new lotion or something like the Butt Paste try it on a small area first. It requires some patience but it's better in the long run. I had a friend who tried Nair for the first time and a day later had a serious rash. =S Err on the side of caution and pay close attention to what your body tells you and your legs will love you. =)For shaving, does aloe gel or baby powder work to help with razor burn?
Razor burn seems to come when my razor is dull or if I'm just not using the right razor in general. I've gone through SEVERAL different razors and finally found the right one for me. I use the Gilette Fusion Power. It's a men's razor, but it works WONDERS!
I also tend to use Shaving creams that are for sensitive skin, or moisturizing creams as well. Sometimes a conditioner for your hair will work well as a shaving cream.
I also use an in-shower moisturizer before I get out of the shower (especially after shaving).
that sucks try aloe
I say aloe vera helps it dries it up ,or some medicated cream
Aloe gel. Works a lot better than powder.
aloe gel works.
make sure when you shave you use shaving cream.
also i noticed if im not shaving in the shower if it is cold i get goose bumps and when i shave over them it cuts the skin and feels like razor burn, so maybe you have the same problem
maybe you can answer my question for me:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
try exfoliating with a sugar or salt scrub before you shave. Make sure you are also using shave cream. I really like to follow up with JASON aloe vera and vitamin E lotion and it makes my legs super smooth. You can get it at walmart or most drugstores.
aloe gel helps a lot

To avoid the razor burn use a medicated shaving lotion like ';Noxzema medicated'; I get razor burn ever time I DON'T use it.
Any shaving cream with ';menthol'; in it will make the burn worse so stay away form those.
Use aloe vera gel... it will soothe your skin and take the redness out of the razor burnacne scars

Can i use baby powder everyday?
can i use baby powder everyday to prevent diaper rash for my baby?
or is it for only when she has diaper rash? Can i use baby powder everyday?
It is fine to use the cornstarch ones, but never talc. Talcum powder is the one that has been known to cause respiratory problems, not the cornstarch. I used cornstarch on my babies at every diaper change. I also used diaper cream a few times a day even when they were not red to prevent a diaper rash. Especially at night when it would be a while between changes. Can i use baby powder everyday?
I never used powder with my children because of the links between powder and respiratory disease (asthma etc.). I always found a barrier cream such as petroleum jelly or vaseline was effective and kind to the skin. Also using premium diapers and wipes makes a difference.
I don't use baby powder because the main ingredient is talc and talc is carcinogenic. So is vaseline. Don't use anything unless your baby had a rash and then just use Butt Paste. It works really good.
You should never use baby powder on a baby, especially a new one. But several boxes of corn starch at the grocery store and liberally dust your baby's clean bottom and crotch with that. Keep a diaper rash ointment on hand at all times, in case you see 'redness' down there .. apply it according to instructions as soon as you see the redness, and your baby will be extremely happy. Just be sure, especially after the baby's daily bath, to let the baby go with no clothing on (in a warm room in the winter, of course) so the whole body can get 'clean air' and dry out. I always let my kids 'go free' for at least half an hour, but now think (and used on my granddaughters) that an hour is much better. Get some large Chux pads or other padding with a waterproof barrier so the baby can 'air safely' and stay with your baby while she's naked, Play with her, play 'toe games' and other games, and you'll be bonding with her as she 'airs' ... and you can also use that time to be sure that she's healthy and has 'good healthy skin' all over her body.
of course why not
I use it smells good
powder can cause upper respritory infections
Yes, using baby powder every day will not hurt your baby's skin. However, they suggest using ';pure cornstarch'; powder instead of scented one, because the scented one is not good for babies' lungs.
Do not use baby powder when your baby gets diaper rush. Use Desitin on diaper rash.
From my experience, and I guess I am very lucky, my son has never gotten diaper rash. I do not use baby powder at all. All I do is whenever he poops, I wash his bottom under a sink with baby wash and warm water, and I also put Desitin cream on him once a week.
You need to consult a doctor because baby powder can also be harmful to the baby if inhaled
Simply using Baby Powder will not harm the baby if there is no diaper rash. I used to use it every day after my shower.
actually, ur not supposed 2 use it at all, cuz the dust particles get in their nose %26amp; make them sick. just use desitin

If you just did it then bathe and bathe.

Why do people use baby powder on babies?
It smells nice. Keeps baby dry. I don't use it too often, and I only use the kind that's made with corn starch..Why do people use baby powder on babies?
I don't. That powder is fine enough to enter and settle in and on your lungs. I don't do that. People use it to avoid diaper rashes, but I use an organic diaper rash creme that works awesomely. Why do people use baby powder on babies?
i only use it if its pretty hot out and hes all sweaty, then I put it on his bum so he doesnt stick to his diaper. otherwise I dont use it on him at all, I just use vaseline to keep his butt dry.
I believe it's because babies get sores in the folds in their bodies and talc keeps those parts dry.
it depends,as for me,i usually use it on my baby wen he has heat rash as a way to keep him fresh
My son had body odor, so we used it under his armpits to keep them fresh!
To absorb excess moisture.
to soak up moisture

Why does baby powder expire?
Can I still use it? It's cornstarch baby powder a couple years old. I don't get why it would expire. Why does baby powder expire?
The mixture of chemicals may irritate baby's skin after being exposed to air for so long. After years, I'm sure some moisture has gotten in there one way or another. There may be some tiny parasites in there. Toss it, and buy some more. Why does baby powder expire?
iv never heard of baby powder expiring but i would still use it

I switched from powder to concentrate baby formula?
Ella pooped SOOOOOOOOOO much after the switch, did this happen to anyone else? I don't mind using the powder formula but when we mix it up there is a LOT of bubbles and foam and I was hoping that the concentrate would cut the foam down.I switched from powder to concentrate baby formula?
The opposite happened to us. The powder made her tummy upset and we switched back to the ready to feed or concentrate formula. I have read to many things that say powdered formula isn't sterile and shouldn't be used in babies that were born premature. I know I could be reading what the worst could happen but when private company's find e-coli bacteria in powdered formula that's where I cut the line, they can not sterilize the formula in powdered form. I would suggest trying either a different brand or continue the powder. If you do use the powder just mix it up in advance and put in the fridge so all the bubbles go away after awhile. I know they do sell formula mixing pictures (I know dr. browns makes a good one my friend likes) and that should help with the bubbles.acne scars

I've heard some adults use baby powder after their shower, where do you apply it & should it be rubbed in?
I've never tried using body powder after my shower, I have some baby powder at home, do I just sprinkle it anywhere I want after my shower and do I need to rub it into the skin? Also, I'm assuming I should apply the powder after drying off right?I've heard some adults use baby powder after their shower, where do you apply it %26amp; should it be rubbed in?
You apply it after you have dried off. You sprinkle it on any part of your body that you sweat. The powder helps absorb the sweat %26amp; keeps you dry %26amp; more comfortable. This is really nice during the hot summer months. Don't use too much though. Use a light touch.I've heard some adults use baby powder after their shower, where do you apply it %26amp; should it be rubbed in?
Rub it in after you have dried off but stay clear of your personal spots the talc in the powder has been known to cause uteruine cancer.
Adults apply baby powder to their private parts, to keep them fresh and desirable.
';Give sand the brush-off
How many times have you had a family member return from a day at the beach only to discover that a good portion of the beach has been brought back into your living room? Minimize the mess by sprinkling some baby powder over sweaty, sand-covered kids (and adults) before they enter the house. In addition to soaking up excess moisture, the powder makes sand incredibly easy to brush off.
Cool sheets in summer
Are those sticky, hot bed sheets giving you the summertime blues when you should be deep in dreamland? Cool things down by sprinkling a bit of baby powder between your sheets before hopping into the sack on warm summer nights.
Clean your bathtub or shower
Remove dirt and built-up soap scum around your bathtub or shower stall by wiping surfaces with 1 teaspoon baby oil on a moist cloth. Use another cloth to wipe away any leftover oil. Finally, spray the area with a disinfectant cleaner to kill any remaining germs. This technique is also great for cleaning soap film and watermarks off glass shower doors.
Shine stainless steel sinks and chrome trim
Pamper your dull-looking stainless steel sinks by rubbing them down with a few drops of baby oil on a soft, clean cloth. Rub dry with a towel, and repeat if necessary. This is also a terrific way to remove stains on the chrome trim of your kitchen appliances and bathroom fixtures.
Polish leather bags and shoes
Just a few drops of baby oil applied with a soft cloth can add new life to an old leather bag or pair of patent-leather shoes. Don't forget to wipe away any oil remaining on the leather when you're done.
Dry-shampoo your pet
Is the pooch's coat in need of a pick-me-up? Vigorously rub a handful or two of baby powder into your pet's fur. Let it settle in for a couple of minutes, and follow up with a thorough brushing. Your dog will both look and smell great! You can even occasionally ';dry shampoo'; your own, or someone else's, hair by following the same technique.
Absorb grease stains on clothing
Frying foods can be dangerous business -- especially for your clothes. If you get a grease splatter on your clothing, try dabbing the stain with some baby powder on a powder puff. Make sure you rub it in well, and then brush off any excess powder. Repeat until the mark is gone.
Clean your playing cards
Here's a simple way to keep your playing cards from sticking together and getting grimy: Loosely place the cards in a plastic bag along with a bit of baby powder. Seal the bag and give it a few good shakes. When you remove your cards, they should feel fresh and smooth to the touch.
Slip on your rubber gloves
Don't try jamming and squeezing your fingers into your rubber gloves when the powder layer inside the gloves wears out. Instead, give your fingers a light dusting with baby powder. Your rubber gloves should slide on good as new.
Remove mold from books
If some of your books have been stored in a less than ideal environment and have gotten a bit moldy or mildewed, try this: First, let them thoroughly air-dry. Then, sprinkle some baby powder between the pages and stand the books upright for several hours. Afterward, gently brush out the remaining powder from each book. They may not be as good as new, but they should be in a lot better shape than they were.
Dust off your flower bulbs
Many savvy gardeners use medicated baby powder to dust flower bulbs before planting them. Simply place 5-6 bulbs and about 3 tablespoons baby powder in a sealed plastic bag and give it a few gentle shakes. The medicated-powder coating helps both reduce the chance of rot and keep away moles, voles, grubs, and other bulb-munching pests. ';
The best and safest baby powder to use is the cornstarch one. Do not use the talc baby powder.
After you're dried off, sprinkle it on where ever you would chafe (where the bra goes, the bikini line, and your butt). You don't have to rub it in.
I have been using the cornstarch baby powder for years. Not only is it safer than talc, but it is more comfortable.
Careful on the powdering your private parts... most baby powders are scented, and some women will find it irritating. Plus if you get it on the delicate tissues in there you're just going to have to clean it out afterwards.
But you can put baby powder all over the rest of your body if you are so inclined. Put it on after you are dry, and I suggest shaking it into your hand first rather than trying to go from the bottle, since that's messy. You don't really need to rub it in, just brush off any excess. It's helpful for your feet if you find that they are stinky... you can put a little in your shoes.

Do you use baby powder after every nappy change?
Hi,
I'm unsure if baby powder should be used every time, as ive only seen 1 person that uses baby powder on their baby?
And the other question , if the baby all ready has nappy rash would you put the creme on after ever nappy change or only once and still use baby powder?
26 weeks prego and unsure.
ThanxDo you use baby powder after every nappy change?
I've never used baby powder on my son and for that matter, he's never had a diaper rash either. There have been a few times where his bum has started to get red and then I just use Aveeno Diaper Rash Cream on him. Usually, by the next diaper change the redness is gone. One thing though, if you are going to use powder, make sure you get corstarch powder as opposed to powder containing talc. Talc is not good for a baby as it has very small particles that can be easily inhaled and prolonged inhalation can cause a build-up in the lungs.Do you use baby powder after every nappy change?
Baby powder isn't recommended because it can enter the lungs of the baby. Instead of a powder, you're much better off using a barrier cream at every nappy change until the rash clears up. Also, a good disposable nappy that draws the moisture from baby's skin helps. Some babies develop nappy rash from sitting in a wet nappy for long periods overnight. Zinc creams are quite good to use as you can see where you've applied the cream and it provides a good barrier against the moisture which is what causes the rash.
I always used a good quality baby bath solution. If any sign of rash appeared I used 'Amolin' cream, available from chemists. I still used it when she was older and had any redness on her bottom or heat rash. I didn't like using baby powder because it dries out the skin. Don't use baby powder at all. Apart from changing nappies regularly let the air to their bottom, lie them on an open nappy and towels and let the air to the area (not in the sun). Any worries with nappy rash then talk to your local chemist, I found them to be very helpful. Another tip is to use baby oil on the babies head after every bath. Use a cotton wool ball with a little oil and massage it into the babies head; mine never ever had cradle cap.
We used the cream on the nappy rash every time we changed their nappy.
We just used Amolin cream cheap but effective.
Weused the powder after a bath because they still seem to get moisture in between the folds of the skin like armpits and folds on their legs even after you dry them.
This can cause other rashes to appear so the baby powder helped with that, especially during summer when they sweat.
I used the Johnson's cornflour one though the normal one wasn't as effective
I only use powder on my older son if he poos and he's a bit stinky. Or if he's really sweaty and uncomfy.
It's recommended you don't use powder since talc is bad for the lungs and can cause cancer. You can use powders made from cornstarch, though. (GoldBond is the best known brand)
As for the rash, put creme after each change until the rash subsides. Don't put powder.
Good lord!! Would YOU put crushed up perfumed rocks on your private parts?
Get yourself an aloe vera plant now - it'll come in handy for nappy rash, sunburn, insect bites, it's a miracle plant. Don't stress at all about products - your baby just doesn't need them. Aloe vera or olive oil works better than any of the creams you can buy, and it's always on hand. I wouldn't ever put any sort of powder down there - it'd suck the moisture right out of their delicate skin and make any sort of infection worse. Keep it simple and you'll be fine - just ignore all the advertising. Just remember a lot of companies see worried expectant mothers as a never ending gold mine! Good luck with the baby!
I've never used baby powder on my daughter. At every nappy change I clean and dry her bottom. I apply cream if there is any faint sign of redness or irritation. My daughter is 17 months old and has never had nappy rash.
I use top quality disposable nappies as they keep the moisture away from her skin and use baby wipes for sensitive skin.
I never used baby powder on my son, and he did not ever have one diaper rash.. i got lucky!!! probably wont be as lucky with this baby arriving 11/4. If the baby has a rash, i heard you are suppose to put the diaper rash ointment on after every diaper change.. or atleast sprinkle the powder, for their comfort.
I never used baby powder on my daughter. It's very bad for their chest as the dust is so fine. If you chose to use it, put some on your own hands and then apply it to baby, so the dust doesn't fly all over him/her.
I only ever used Sudocreme at every nappy change and she never ever had nappy rash.
Please do not use baby powder at all.
Ok so its name suggests that you use it on babies.
Wrong!
Talc has harmful chemicals in it that can cause cancer. and no good for your babies respiratory system either.
If theyhave a rash use cream its much nicer for them
Congrats and good luck
I only use baby powder when bubs has a rash, but i try not to use anything, as their skin will become accustomed to it and rely on it daily.
To prevent rash i give bubs lots of nudie bum time on a towell, she loves it haha.
I don't use baby powder, the best thing you can put is an ordinary nappy care cream or ointment.
I used Bepanthen for my daughter and now I'm using the same ointment with my new born son.
Use baby powder to prevent nappy rash. Only use cream (no powder) when baby has nappy rash. Baby powder is optional, it helps to absorb moisture. I don't think it's necessary for a new born baby.
I can honestly say i've never ever used baby powder after changing my sons bum.
I use Sudocrem, a preventing nappy rash cream after every bum change though and have since he was born.
I have used vaseline and cu rash baby powder since day one afta bub had thrush at 3 wks old and she hasn't had any bad rash since. my mum swears by the vaseline and i also use curash wipes. no har in being safe
Talc, a major constituent of baby powder has been linked to cervical cancer. I wouldn't use it!
I've never used baby powder on either of my kids.

Can I make milk shakes out of baby's formula milk powder?
It is for a underweight children aged 1 to 3.Can I make milk shakes out of baby's formula milk powder?
Why don't you just use Pediasure? Why use baby formula if the child is 1? One year old babies, unless lactose intolerant, are able to handle full fat cow's milk. Just make a shake with that. Also, pudding is great for low weight children. Pediasure helped alot with my tiny boy. Milk, yogurt, meat, cheese, chocolate milk... all these are good for babies over 1 yr old. Just make sure the solid foods are cut down to an acceptable size and serving. Also, Nutripals is good also, and a bit cheaper than Pediasure. Hope I've helped. Best of luck! Can I make milk shakes out of baby's formula milk powder?
i would think so. just add the powder into a blender with ice and water.
I would not recommend it...but you can buy the pediasure chocolate or vanilla drinks and add ice in a blender. That will provide them with plenty of nutrients.
i wouldnt use formula, if they need to gain weight you can use carnation instant breakfast add one pack to 6 oz of milk mix and then add a 1/2 cup of ice cream and mix well. this will add calories and has alot of protein. it taste good and you should have no problems getting them to drink it.
No, they sell powder specifically for that purpose. Baby formula would make them really sick.
I have 3 kids ages from 4-1 and I have never heard of this. If you mix the formula with anything but water and put too little or too much formula it can cause health problems. A child over 1 can have regular vitamin d milk and after 2 yr old should be put on 2%.If the child is allergic to milk you can use soy or rice milk to supplement.
Hope this helps but for best advise ask the childs doctor.
There are better ways like feeding them homo/whole milk. I think pediasure has a special powder for that though.
At one point my Daughter was put on Pediasure, which has about 5 different flavors, for weight gain. She has some intestinal and esophagus issues and the Dr. actually gave us a Rx for the Pediasure. Ask your Dr. It is SOOOO much cheaper than buying it over the counter! Good Luck
Go to a pharmacy and ask for polycose. They will special order it for you and it is made for underweight children who do not meet their caloric requirements in a normal diet!
