What's the point of baby powder, if your not supposed to use it on babys?

just wondering....What's the point of baby powder, if your not supposed to use it on babys?
You are suppose to use it on babies. You put it in the diaper to help remove some of the wetness that happens naturally in a diaper. Its the same reason why you can put it in your socks, or in your own personal underwear. The corn starch helps to remove the wetness. What's the point of baby powder, if your not supposed to use it on babys?
Beats me. We are told to not even use it in the nursing homes now!

Landons mama- You are NOT supposed to use baby powder on babys as it has been linked to asthma and other respiratory problems. It also does not help much with rashes either, cream works much better.

It can also be irritating to little girls.

As a nursing student I'm getting the most up to date info on recomendations and baby powder is OUT.
You can use it as long as you shield their face from the little poofs of powder that sometimes go into the air from the powder container. You dont want that to get into her lungs. Its especially important for newborns, but as they get older its less of an issue.
you can use it you just use the one that doesn't have talk in it they made a new one with vitamin E and it's less armful for baby's lungs... and i've use the other kind with my 8 year old and she turned out fine

you can't listen to what everyone says
I don't use it on newborns but I have used it on my daughter that was ten months and up. I find it helps with keeping moisture away from her body in the heat of summer...I don't care what anybody says I use it for my older baby

I too have used Cornstarch. It does work!
It was used to help absorb moisture. However talcum powder has been found to be very harmful to the lungs, and all it really does is hold the moisture against the skin instead of letting it absorb into the diaper.
i use it

i walk far enough away from him and sprinkle it in his diaper that way he breaths in as minimally as possible

it also keeps your armpits dry if ur going to a dance club and helps de oil ur hair if u dont feel like washing it
I always use it! I use pure cornstarch though.. it works wonders for rashes... much better than the creams..
you are. you put it on their bums to prevent diaper rash
Baby powder is for babies. They sale it in the baby section. You put it on so it absorbs moisture and your baby does not get a rash.

Honestly if it was going to cause a life threating problem wouldn't they take it off of shelves and warn parents via news?
