What is baby oil used for and also baby powder?

Baby oil is for their skin, to seal in moisture if they have dry skin. You can also use it to help with cradle cap, by rubbing it on their scalp and then loosening the scales with a comb, then washing it out. Baby powder is to absorb moisture, and is usually used on the bottom to help prevent diaper rash. What is baby oil used for and also baby powder?
Baby powder was used to prevent diaper rash or to keep baby dry in the heat. Oil was to soften skin or cradle cap. neither is used much anymore. Powder can get in the respiratory system through the nose and mouth and oil is unnecessary. Olive or vegetable oil is better for dry spots or cradle cap..What is baby oil used for and also baby powder?
Well in my experience baby oil is good for bad craddle cap but that is really it. Baby powder really isn't good for much and is actually to dangerous to use on a baby so I don't even buy it. If I do buy it I buy the lotion that turns to powder because then the powder isn't breathed in and that I use to put on the bottom to keep it dry but I was told you aren't suppose to use it on baby girls as it can cause infections .
baby oil is to smooth your skin like lotion and baby powder is for diaper rash
Technically, both are pretty useless.

Baby oil is a skin moisturizer, but if your baby should inhale or ingest it, it's poisonous. It isn't suggested for baby use.

Baby powder used to be quite the same, but baby powder was used to keep the folds and layers of Baby's skin from sweating and sticking to each other. However, cornstarch encourages yeast infection, and talc is an airborne inhalant risk (which has been documented to be lethal.)

I use neither. For a baby skin moisturizer, I use emu oil (eczematic babies) and for protection from moisture, I use Triple Paste.
baby oil is used for circumcision, to keep the skin loose and not adhesing to the shaft of the penis. Also used for the cradle cap. The baby powder is to keep their butt dry but shouldnt be used. Baby powder is Notorious for causing yeast infections in the diaper area and is more trouble that it is worth. Also, if you have other children and they get into either one of these, they can be aspirated and cause serious lung damage or death.
baby oil is used for the skin, cradle cap,and thats pretty much all I can think of. Baby powder is also used to keep moisture off the baby. I never really used either of these products. With my last baby I used baby powder because she is chunky and under her neck it would become red and nasty so to keep the moisture away I would use baby powder. I also heard though that neosporin is better to use than baby powder to keep moisture away whether it's for the bottom area or under the neck.
Don't buy baby powder--use a diaper cream like Desitin.

The one thing my pediatrician recommended baby oil for is cradle cap. No need to buy it unless your baby has it and regular brushing and washing doesn't make it go away. You put it on just before a bath and wash the baby's hair last--the oil makes the cradle cap come off more easily.
well, dont use it in your home...talc is used for absorbancy and friction and is be bad for baby....the particals are so tiny that it can cause pneumonia, or airway problems when you change them, or even death if they get hold of it when they are grabby....mineral oil is used for softening the skin....but it is greazy and it is made of petroleum ....it is liquid petrolatum, a bi-product of distilled petroleum to produce gasoline......

so try the health food stores or go online with these companies to see who carries these/others in your town...i use

***Earth's Best organic everyday lotion(lavendar)

and to replace the talc..try corn starch...im me if u need..laney

ps....for cradle cap get a baby sponge w/ bristles...mine is made by first years..it is great! sponge on one side and bristles on the other...and the handle has the shampoo dispenser! gone in no time!
