I heard baby powder helps oily hair... is that true? how does it work?

How to apply it? when to wash off?I heard baby powder helps oily hair... is that true? how does it work?
Absolutely - its a nice trick if you just didnt have time to shower one morning - you just sprinkle some in your hands and rub together then run your fingers through your hair close to the scalp - just make sure not to get too much in any one spot so its noticeable - if you do just put water over it and it'll disappear.I heard baby powder helps oily hair... is that true? how does it work?
Yes it's true. The powder absorbs the oil. Sprinkle the powder lightly, rub into your hair then brush out.

It's mostly used on the roots since it's closer to the scalp where the oil comes from. If your hair is oily all over just shampoo. It doesn't take that long.

I shampoo daily but lets say if you're in school P.E. and your hair gets oily this is a good quick remedy.

When to wash it off? You don't want to use this as an excuse not to wash your hair. Like I said use in an emergency then when you get home shower or bathe and wash your hair.
It does, just don't put too much on your hair otherwise it turns greyish, but that's easy to fix (just tousle your hair and brush it a bit and it'll blend in more if that happens). It works because it's (usually) made from cornstarch and that absorbs moisture.

I use it everyday to keep my hair less oily, so it should work for you.
YES! it does. just put half a cup of baby powder in your shampoo and just wash when ever u usually wash your hair.
Yes it is true. Any type of powder absorbs moisture which is why baby powder is good for baby's bottoms so they dont get a rash on their bottom. Just put a lil in your hands and run it through .....wash your hair like normal.
Yes you can use baby powder on your hair. But only a little, and only on the roots. If you put on too much it will make your hair supper oily, and you should wash it out the next day
Yes it does. I use it quite often in between washes when the roots get oily. You sprinkle bit of the powder to the root area and blot it out. It works best on light hair since powder is white, but I have brown hair and it does not look too bad. Once you use the powder it's best to wash it out next day, do not keep re-applying it over and over. To wash it, just use the shampoo as you normally do.
it helps for a while if you don't apply to much or to little. It ';soaks'; up the oil and makes your hair look lighter than it does when its oily.

you can use it in the morning before you start your day. just put some in your hand and run it through your hair. Brush your hair out so you can't see the white, so people can't tell. You probably want to wash it off that night because it would've worn off by then.
yeah if you want to look like a powder puff retard
Baby powder doesnt help oily hair. If you want something to help you for oily hair, choose to put lemon or lime in ur hair to get rid of the oiliness. All u gotta do is sqeeze some lemon or lime juice and massage into ur hair. Let it stay like that for at least twenty min. before u wash off. Wash with a shampoo and not a conditioner. This will help.

Q. Why is talc harmful?

A. Talc is closely related to the potent carcinogen asbestos. Talc particles have been shown to cause tumors in the ovaries and lungs of cancer victims. For the last 30 years, scientists have closely scrutinized talc particles and found dangerous similarities to asbestos. Responding to this evidence in 1973, the FDA drafted a resolution that would limit the amount of asbestos-like fibers in cosmetic grade talc. However, no ruling has ever been made and today, cosmetic grade talc remains non-regulated by the federal government. This inaction ignores a 1993 National Toxicology Program report which found that cosmetic grade talc, without any asbestos-like fibers, caused tumors in animal subjects.1 Clearly with or without asbestos-like fibers talcum powder is a carcinogen. Is it true thats lots of ladies put ';baby powder';down there'; to smell good?
It smells good, but it hazardous for you, because it can cause infertility and cancer

I eat johnson's baby powder on a daily basis, is that a bad thing????

not if you want to dieI eat johnson's baby powder on a daily basis, is that a bad thing????
wheather it is a good or bad thing to do should not be the question. the question is why are you eating it in the frist place. it is not food. it is not ment to be food. it was not designed to be eaten or taken by mouth, so what in your head made you look at it and think I want to eat thatI eat johnson's baby powder on a daily basis, is that a bad thing????
I would not consider it healthy; it is a psychological disease mostly affecting pregnant women, however, it can affect others.

You should make an appointment with your physician, and discuss this behavior soon.
why are you eating it? it is not a good thing to eat
something is wrong with you
I can't believe it is a good thing . do you have a medical reason for doing such a thing ? might want to get that checked out. there are also people who eat dirt, but there is a medical reason for this .
Naw Its good for U.
i think u r sick go get help i did cause i eat the shampoo
Well yeah. First its not good for you, and second new reports show that it causes cancer.
Ok...
at least you'll have smooth insides...
Yeah..That stuff is poision. Once I swallowed some by mistake and I threw up...
As long as the Johnson's don't care Then there should be no problem LOL

Are you out of your mind? what do you think , I think you should switch to shaving cream personaly? besides I always get tired of those pesky mouth hairs myself!!
my cousin does that sometimes, it can't harm you, so eat away.
I know alot of people who do that. I am not sure what it does to your body but just to be sure ask a doctor.
It's a chalky talcum powder isn't it. why do you do that?
It's made of talc and can adversely affect your lungs. I am not sure but I have to believe it gets in your lungs if you eat it. Surely you can find something better to put in your mouth.

For a number of years now, epidemiologists (scientists who try to establish cause and effect relationships in diseases) have been interested in trying to find some link to the environment and ovarian cancer. Some of their focus has been on talc powder because it is a product that is commonly used in the groin area by women. Several of these studies have shown a possible link between talc powder use and ovarian cancer while other studies have not. One interesting study published last year (1996) was done by examining the ovaries of women who had had them removed for reasons other than ovarian cancer. In that study, talc powder was found in all the ovaries including the ones from women did not use talc powder on themselves. This suggests that talc powder could reach the ovaries of women who use talc powder on their babies.

The relationship between talc and cancer is by no means certain. It may turn out there is no relationship, on the other hand, it could be an important contributing factor in the development of ovarian cancer. More studies need to be done. Currently, there is absolutely no hard evidence to suggest talc powder use causes cancer in babies. However, the immediate danger of inhaling baby powder is clear. Therefore, I would discourage the use of baby powder.
First of all, you are a faker, and if you were doing something like that you would have to have something wrong with you. If you breathe that stuff in too much you can get lung cancer and emphysema. So good luck with that stupid thing you're doing.
Do you do it on purpose or are you ingesting it while using it ( meaning are you getting it in your mouth while applying it elsewhere)...people who ingest non-ingestibles on a regular basis sometimes have a disorder called ';Pica';...look it up...and go to your doctor.
yes
umm your body is lacking something maybe something in your system like some neutrient or something. i knew a lady who ate corn startch like that she told her doctor he gave her something her system was lacking .just like people who suck on there tee shirts are lacking fiber its true.
that's disgusting
You should visit a hospital/ doctor because, most likely, your body needs some ingredient that the baby powder has!
ooook...
yes....
You're not funny
uhhh i dunno!! but that sounds pretty GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!
Weird.
I don't think its all that good for the lungs, because it is so heavy going down, I would look up the wood Talc, since that is the main ingredient. I would think it would be something like limestone.

  • Is baby powder bad for your skin?

is baby powder good to put onto your face because i heard it clogs your pores but it makes my skin really soft. Anyone got any solutions??Is baby powder bad for your skin?
I wouldn't advise putting it on your face. It's really bad for abrasions (small cuts and acne) and can give you infections if it gets into your mucous membranes (eyes and nose).

If you want soft skin on your face, apply a facial moisturizer (with SPF sunscreen) twice a day.Is baby powder bad for your skin?
i dont think baby powder is supposed to be used on your face, but if you want your skin to be softer try using baking soda with your facial wash

Baby powder on hair roots- what else?

What can I use, besides baby powder, to keep my roots from becoming greasy?Baby powder on hair roots- what else?
Eeeew no baby powder. Wash hair everday and condtion only from the ears down.Baby powder on hair roots- what else?
A blast with some light-hold hairspray works great and gives a matte look while sucking up some of the greasiness.
ive never tried it, but dry shampoo
take a shower every single day and use shampoo and scrub your roots
Oooh. IDK. I have the same problem. Baby powder helps a little, but not much, I know. It also causes a contrast cause I have dark brown hair, and it doesn't always mix/blend. Whenever I shower, though, I make sure that at the end I really scrub my roots with just some water, to strip some of the natural oils. I also clean my hairbrush and comb reguarly with soap and water, because using a hair brush that has hair in it, or hasn't been cleaned in a while makes your hair greasy.

    Good luck!
wash your hair daily to remove the extra oil from the scalp, use conditioner only on the ends of your hair so it doesnt weigh down the hair and cause it to seperate at the roots to look greasy. also hair products that are cheap or are and off brand will cause the hair to look greasy. it doesnt hurt anything to wash it daily if you are already an oily person. if you were dry skinned it would strip your hair of its natural oil and lusture.
